Principal - Client Accounting

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid) Employment Type: Full-Time Overview A leading public accounting and advisory firm is seeking a strategic Director or Principal to help grow its Client Accounting Services (CAS) practice. This leadership role combines business development, client advisory, and team leadership while overseeing outsourced accounting and financial advisory services for a diverse client base. Responsibilities Develop new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and strategic relationship building. Lead proposals, pricing, and engagement planning for prospective clients. Serve as the primary advisor to a portfolio of clients, providing strategic guidance on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and business performance. Oversee outsourced accounting engagements, including monthly close, financial reporting, and compliance. Identify cross-selling opportunities and strengthen long-term client relationships. Mentor and develop managers, senior accountants, and staff while maintaining high-quality client service. Improve processes by leveraging cloud-based accounting technologies and scalable workflows. Collaborate with firm leadership on practice growth, operational initiatives, and team development. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA license required. 10+ years of progressive public accounting and/or outsourced accounting experience. Proven success in business development, client relationship management, and practice growth. Strong advisory experience with privately held businesses and middle-market clients. Proficiency with cloud-based accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Bill.com, or similar applications.
