Director of Nursing (DON) – RN

Director of Nursing Opportunity

Marion Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as Director of Nursing (DON) and lead our nursing department.

This is a key facility leadership position for an RN who enjoys developing teams, improving clinical systems, and creating an environment where staff can provide consistent, high-quality resident care.

As Director of Nursing, you will work closely with the Administrator, nursing leadership, Medical Director, physicians and advanced practice providers, department managers, and Garden Springs Healthcare's regional and corporate clinical teams.

What You'll Do

As Director of Nursing, you will provide leadership and oversight of nursing services throughout the facility. Responsibilities include:

• Lead, support, and develop the nursing department, including RNs, LPNs, STNAs, nurse managers, and other nursing personnel.

• Promote high-quality, resident-centered nursing care.

• Provide leadership, coaching, education, and accountability to nursing staff.

• Oversee nursing department staffing and scheduling to support resident needs and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor clinical outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Lead nursing-related Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.

• Maintain ongoing survey readiness and support compliance with CMS and Ohio nursing facility requirements.

• Review clinical risks, changes in condition, hospital transfers, falls, wounds, infections, and other quality indicators.

• Support infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship initiatives.

• Ensure nursing documentation and clinical practices meet facility standards and applicable requirements.

• Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and clinical meetings.

• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, rehabilitation, dietary, social services, respiratory therapy, and other disciplines.

• Assist with recruitment, orientation, training, competency development, and retention of nursing staff.

• Evaluate nursing department processes and implement improvements when needed.

• Participate in facility leadership meetings and quality initiatives.

• Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, practitioners, and facility leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

• 5 years of nursing experience in long-term care/skilled nursing.

• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Working knowledge of nursing facility clinical operations and regulatory requirements.

Preferred:

• Previous Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, or comparable nursing leadership experience.

• Experience with QAPI, survey readiness, infection prevention, clinical quality improvement, and staff development.

• Experience with PointClickCare or another long-term care electronic health record system.
