Sports Intern - KHTS FM 98.1 & AM

Santa Clarita’s Hometown Station, FM 98.1 & AM‑1220 KHTS, is seeking a Sports Intern to cover our busy fall sports season, which features nearly 60 high‑school teams in football, volleyball, tennis, golf, water polo, and college teams from College of the Canyons and The Master’s College. Responsibilities Cover Sporting Events and Games • Availability on game days and nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) to report live, take game notes, conduct post‑game interviews with players or coaches, and uncover interesting storylines. • Serve as a runner during Friday‑night broadcasts, assisting at various locations and transferring/handling equipment. Write Sports Articles • Produce feature stories, athlete profiles, and game recaps for our website, KHTS Sports at hometownstation.com. Learn About How Things Work • Gain insight into the broadcasting process from studio to field or court. • Ideal for individuals curious about radio broadcasting. Qualifications Passion for sports reporting. Ability to communicate with a clear, engaging voice on‑air and in print. Strong organizational skills to prioritize assignments and work efficiently. Details This is an unpaid internship, but the role has the potential to grow into paid work.
