Responsibilities Prosecuting violations and enforcing federal laws related to illegal immigration, violent crime, narcotics trafficking, organized crime, financial litigation, firearms, public corruption, asset forfeiture, and white‑collar crime. Engaging in frequent courtroom appearances and handling a fast‑paced, varied caseload. Managing assignments that increase in complexity and responsibility as training and experience progress. Qualifications Required Qualifications: J.D. degree. Active membership in any U.S. bar. At least one year of post‑J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship. Preferred Qualifications: Strong academic credentials. Superior legal research and writing skills. Quick analytical ability to articulate critical case‑related issues accurately and precisely. High‑volume courtroom experience, especially first‑chair jury trials. Outstanding organizational, time‑management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a supportive and professional team environment with other AUSAs, support staff, and investigative agencies. Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, ethics, civility, and public service. Computer proficiency and self‑sufficiency in legal research, writing, and preparing day‑to‑day correspondence and pleadings. Relevant experience in investigating and prosecuting or defending criminal offenses. Knowledge of grand jury practice and investigative and prosecution techniques. Benefits The Deputy Attorney General Pay Range for Grade 21–29 is $76,800 to $195,100, which includes 21.59% locality pay. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, life insurance, health benefits, and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Travel & Relocation Approximately 1 to 5 nights per month on average; relocation expenses will not be authorized.
