Hardware Design Engineer

Position Description & Qualifications

Serco is seeking a part-time Hardware Engineering intern to join our Submarine Trainer Development Team supporting the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI. You will work with a team of hardware engineers building and preparing latest Attack Center and Navigation training systems for deployment on site in Newport, RI. This position will require ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security clearance and is onsite.

In this role, you will:

• Be proficient with Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Build Information Technology (IT) suites to support simulation training devices.
• Fabricate and install system interconnect cabling for communications, network, audio, video, and serial interfaces.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• HS Diploma/GED and progress toward a bachelor’s degree in STEM related field.
• Strong mechanical skills and aptitude for building and maintaining hardware
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to work on site at Newport, RI.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Additional desired skills and experience:

• Active Security Clearance.
