Job Description
ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced ICU Registered Nurses to join our fast-paced team. This role requires a strong background in critical care, specifically with trauma patients, and proficiency in advanced techniques, including ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critical care patients in the ICU/Trauma ICU setting.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias accordingly.
• Administer and titrate medications, including vasopressors and sedation.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Participate in emergency response situations as required.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient information and care in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years of ICU nursing experience, with a strong emphasis on trauma care.
• Experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies is required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required; PALS certification is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and provide quality patient care.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Past travel experience in varied settings is preferred.

Unit Details

• ICU Unit: 30 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2.
• Charge Nurse available 24/7; house supervisor on-site continuously.
• Respiratory Therapy present in the ICU 24/7.
• Monitor tech support is available for cardiac rhythm interpretation.

Working Environment

This is a demanding, fast-paced environment where teamwork and communication are essential. Nurses must be prepared to ask questions, seek assistance when necessary, and contribute to a collaborative atmosphere. Willingness to float to other units as required.

Scheduling and Orientation

• 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule, including every other weekend and holiday requirements.
• Self-scheduling may be available, subject to manager review.
• One day of unit orientation will be provided, with additional training as necessary.
