Malcolm X College is currently seeking a non-union part-time Adjunct Instructor for Social and Pysch Science Department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Design courses to meet learningoutcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their ownlearning. Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve usingdiscipline-specific thinking strategies. Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensurethat classroom instruction leads to student learning and theattainment of the student learning outcomes for the course. Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals andfoster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people andideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidencein every student’s ability to learn. Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academicand professional communities and promote collaboration and teamworkamong members of these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree inSocial/Behavioral Sciences. Preference to Anthropology, Psychology,and Ethnic/Cultural Studies. Knowledge of BlackboardLearning Management System, preferred Excellent oral andwritten communication skills and ability to communicate withdiverse group of staff and students required Experience with adiverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is acommitment to the open access mission of the communitycollege.
