Volunteer with Health Justice Initiative
Health Justice Initiative
Health Justice Initiative (HJI) is a physician led, community driven nonprofit based in Brooklyn, New York, working to advance healthcare equity through the integration of public health, medical expertise, and legal advocacy. Founded in 2023 by Dr. Natalie Moulton-Levy, HJI provides free or low-cost legal services, empowers communities through education, and addresses systemic barriers to care through policy initiatives. Our pilot programs currently serve neighborhoods like East New York and Brownsville, with plans to expand citywide.
We are seeking volunteers to support daily operations and provide administrative and office support. This role combines daily administrative assistance with opportunities to contribute to organization wide initiatives.
Core responsibilities
Administrative and office assistance
General coordination support for staff and program needs
Project based opportunity areas may include:
Communications and outreach systems
Client and community engagement strategy development
Digital systems, platforms, and workflow improvements
Data management, reporting, and financial systems support
Website and digital content review and updates
Visual communications and informational materials development
Community partnership and network development initiatives
Operational process improvement and documentation
Marketing and audience development strategy
This role is well suited for individuals interested in nonprofit operations, legal systems, communications, and organizational development.
