Medical TechnologistWe are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our hospital's medical laboratory team. The ideal candidate will possess a New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a valid permit issued by the NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory to Technology. ASCP certification is preferred but not required, provided the candidate holds a full New York State MLT license.ResponsibilitiesPerform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the laboratory for the assigned station.Understand the principles of tests performed and possess working knowledge of the equipment used in the assigned station.Ensure that all specimens are stored appropriately.Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure reliable patient results.Recognize critical or life-threatening results, verify them, and report to the appropriate clinician.Document all results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).Essential SkillsNew York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or valid permit issued by NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory to Technology.Experience in chemistry and hematology.Knowledge of medical technology and clinical laboratory procedures.Ability to work with laboratory equipment and ensure accurate testing.Additional Skills & QualificationsASCP certification (preferred but not required).Experience in blood bank, coagulation, urology, and general laboratory.Strong documentation skills.Ability to recognize and report critical results.Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a hospital medical laboratory with over 30 Medical Laboratory Technologists on each shift. Departments include Microbiology, Blood Bank, General Lab, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urology. The work schedule is either overnight from 11pm to 7:30am or from 12pm to 8:30am. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, offering a dynamic and growing environment with opportunities for professional growth.
