SECURITY SPECIALIST

Summary You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Commander, Security Office of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. Responsibilities You will be responsible for the proper management and security of all Communications Security material under the account. You will serve as an advisor on matters concerning the proper handling of material, information about new or revised policies and procedures, and their impact on the Command. You will generate, manage, and distribute local symmetric products and maintain administrative information to centrally managed data elements, such as the accounts Highest Classification Indicator (HCI). You will conduct personnel indoctrination, operations monitoring, audits, and inspections and other functions which ensure adequate protection of Communications Security. You will act as the Command's authorized courier to Crypto Repair Facilities, shipyard accounts, and designated communications facilities. You will give personnel briefings before access is granted to Communications Security information, as well as follow office requirements regarding secure voice telephones and the practice of operational security. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09/10) grade level or pay band (DA-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Applying complex information, personnel, operations, and industrial security methods, principles, and practices to an organization; (2) Providing technical guidance to program personnel in assigned classification decisions to project work, updating and interpreting classification guides; (3) Investigating and reporting on security violations and electronic spillages for assigned program; (4) Coordinating security training on various subjects relative to proper protection of classified military information (CMI) and controlled unclassified information (CUI); and (5) Interfacing with internal and external contacts to provide technology protection for an established weapons system and/or aviation program. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
