Assembly Technician

Hours: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. M-F; Must be able to work overtime. Summary The Assembly Technician - Lasers is primarily responsible for configuring, calibrating, and testing lasers. Essential Duties To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Configure, calibrate, and evaluate Lasers, assemble Focusing Heads check working distance. Build a varied range of precision electro‑mechanical assemblies. Build, wire‑up and test semi‑automated, single‑operator materials processing workstations. Able to train/mentor new employees. Work with and train customers and service engineers. Provide feedback to engineering on current and new designs. Other projects and tasks as assigned by the Company from time to time. Technical Skills Read schematic and wiring diagrams. Professional soldering and wiring. Design and build wire harnesses. Must know electronic hardware like terminal blocks, connectors, panel components, switches, controls, indicators, panel meters – things found on industrial equipment. Light machining (i.e.) drilling holes in sheet metal to mount components. PC computer software and hardware troubleshooting. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education & Experience 2-year electronics technical degree or equivalent trade school certificate and experience 2 – 5 years’ experience in building and testing one‑of‑a‑kind custom equipment Built, wired up and evaluated semi‑custom products with stepper motors, servo systems and related components and controls. Worked of wiring diagrams. Worked out minor implementation changes on the fly to expedite, build and evaluate. Specified electronic control items like switches, indicators, terminal blocks from standard supply houses like Graingers, McMaster‑Carr, Newark, etc. Responsible for meeting time and cost budgets for his/her own work. Demonstrated initiative in getting things done to support the group’s business goals. Understands AMADA WELD TECH INC.’s basic philosophy and participates fully in conducting its mission. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None required. English Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wire lists. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to read and follow instructions written in English.
