Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing support, medication services, and health monitoring to individuals receiving treatment at Wildwood Recovery Center. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed provider, the LPN plays an essential role in client safety, medication administration, documentation, and supporting the interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with individuals in recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities

Client Care & Medication Administration

• Assist with client admissions by completing intake screenings, including vital signs, health history, and medication reconciliation.
• Monitor clients for changes in physical, behavioral, or mental health status and promptly report concerns to the RN or medical provider.
• Support withdrawal monitoring protocols and observe clients for signs and symptoms of withdrawal as directed.
• Administer medications according to provider orders and accurately document all medications in the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
• Assist with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services, including medication administration and monitoring, as directed.
• Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and follow established emergency response procedures.

Clinical Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete nursing documentation, including MAR entries, nursing notes, and incident reports.
• Maintain medication security, storage, counts, and documentation in accordance with Virginia Board of Nursing regulations and facility policy.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, DBHDS, OSHA, infection control standards, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Follow facility policies and procedures to promote client safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support facility readiness for licensing surveys and accreditation reviews.

Collaboration & Team Communication

• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding client medical concerns, medication changes, and continuity of care.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, APRNs, Registered Nurses, counselors, and other team members to support client treatment.
• Participate in shift reports, staff meetings, trainings, and other required meetings.
• Assist with coordination of outside medical appointments, laboratory services, pharmacy needs, and specialty referrals as assigned.

Client Support & Therapeutic Environment

• Provide health education related to medications, wellness, recovery, and self-care.
• Interact with clients using a compassionate, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented approach.
• Maintain professional boundaries while modeling respectful communication and appropriate coping skills.

Requirements:

Education/Experience

• Active, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in substance use, behavioral health, psychiatric, or residential treatment setting preferred (but not required).
