MO-SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – St. Louis Job Overview Cardiac Cath Lab position at St. Mary’s Hospital, full‑time, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Job Summary Plans, coordinates, and implements care for adult patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Ensures quality care is provided efficiently and safely in accordance with unit standards. Demonstrates competency skills appropriate to the clinical area. Responsibilities Perform on the Cath Lab procedure team as circulator, scrub, or monitor. Perform in holding by ensuring the patient is correctly prepped for the procedure and that needed information (history and physical) is timely. Utilize critical judgment to analyze patient assessment and administer medications to all patients, including critically ill patients, and report abnormal information to the physician promptly. Perform hemostasis safely and properly with or without vascular devices. Routinely enter patient orders and charges; check charges for accuracy. Provide care of the critically ill patient with the ability to function independently in stressful situations. Routinely educate patients and families based on assessed needs, document education, and keep them informed of tests and treatments. Provide clear patient instructions on perioperative expectations. Assist families to the cardiology area or Cath lab area by escorting when necessary. Perform point‑of‑care testing according to policies and procedures. Maintain constant alertness and work safely. Perform other duties as assigned. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or an education equivalency for licensing. Experience No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant use of speech for oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lb. Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use / data entry. Frequent vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and hear alarms or malfunctioning machinery. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lb. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running. Licensure Requirements Illinois – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA), Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Advanced Life Support (ALS) – AHA, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA. Missouri – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – AHA, Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration, or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State, Advanced Life Support (ALS) – AHA, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA. Oklahoma – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – AHA, Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State, or Registered Nurse (RN) – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN), Advanced Life Support (ALS) – AHA, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA.
