Activity Assistant Job Summary Astoria Healthcare Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Assistant to join our team! As an Activity Assistant, you will play a vital role in planning and facilitating social and recreational events for our residents. Responsibilities Assist in evaluating each resident's background, interests, abilities, physical limitations, and needs to develop a meaningful program to improve and enhance their quality of life Develop and maintain records of resident attendance and participation in activities, as well as complete all written records and chart documentation Maintain a current list of residents unable or unwilling to participate in group activities and keep records of activity participation and attendance Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the nature and etiology of disabilities and illnesses, and its impact on resident ability to engage in activities Assist in developing and posting a monthly activities calendar, and coordinate activities with other relevant services Maintain quarterly progress notes and conduct quarterly and annual reviews of progress towards goals specific to the resident's activity plan Assist and facilitate monthly resident council meetings, providing a forum for advocacy, education, and group participation in activities and unit programming Perform other duties as requested Requirements Ability to communicate effectively with small and large groups, and work well with those who have physical or mental limitations High school diploma; degree in hotel management or relevant field is a plus Strong communication skills, both oral and written Knowledge and awareness of the care needs of the elderly and/or chronically ill Basic computer skills About Us Astoria Healthcare Center is under new ownership and management, and we are committed to providing a positive and rewarding work environment for our employees and exceptional care for our residents.
