Community Health Worker

Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. Under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator, the Camp Health Officer is responsible for overseeing the health and wellness of campers and staff while ensuring full compliance with American Camping Association (ACA) standards. This role supports a safe, healthy camp environment through medical oversight, medication management, staff training, and collaboration with camp leadership. The Health Officer is an active member of the camp community and may assist with general camp operations as needed. Health & Medical Oversight Ensure compliance with all American Camping Association (ACA) health and safety standards Review camper health histories within 24 hours of their first arrival at camp Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all campers Transport health forms to the clinic or hospital when required Record all camper visits to the Health & Wellness Center Notify campers’ emergency contacts as necessary Report all camper injuries, illnesses, or medical emergencies to the Camp Coordinator and Camp Director Medication Management Collect all medications to be dispensed during campers’ enrollment Securely store all camper medications under lock, except when in controlled possession for administration Ensure prescription directions are followed exactly when administering medications Oversee staff medication storage, ensuring medications are either locked in staff possession or secured in the Health Care Assistant’s locked area Communication & Coordination Review special health needs of arriving campers with counselors Know and be able to navigate the route to the hospital and/or clinic Complete Employee Injury Reports and Investigation Reports for staff injuries and email them to Human Resources within 10 hours Provide supplies inventory records to the Camp Coordinator at the end of the season Training & Supervision Train camp staff on their roles and responsibilities related to camp healthcare Conduct daily inspections of all cabins to ensure compliance with health and safety standards Follow and enforce all established camp policies and rules Camp Participation & Support Attend and participate in parent check-in, staff training, and all staff meetings Serve as a relief counselor when needed Assist with evening programs and campfire activities Assist with operation of the Camp Store 2026 Camp Dates: May 31, 2026 - August 14, 2026, with the week of the 4th of July off. This is a seasonal position. Must be available for the duration of the summer camp season. Pay for this position is between $556 and $757.50 per week. Room and board included. Required Experience & Qualifications 1. At least 21 years old 2. 6 months experience working with youth 3. Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or EMT Certification 4. Current driver’s license and YMCA insurance approved driving record 5. CPR/First Aid Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant Who are we?
