Engineer, Multi-Asset Class Order Management System (OMS)

Location: New York, NY | Hybrid

Role Overview

We are seeking an Engineer to build our client's greenfield, multi-asset class Order Management System (OMS) that enables direct ownership of equities, fixed income, options, futures, FX, alternatives, and cryptocurrency through a unified trading interface.

You will own the complete technical architecture end to end—from order routing and execution, to position management, custody integrations, and regulatory reporting. This is a hands-on senior/lead engineering role requiring deep expertise in trading systems, distributed systems design, and financial markets infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage the full trade order lifecycle across multiple asset classes
\n
• Build and evolve a robust position management system
\n
• Integrate FIX protocol and vendor-specific trading APIs
\n
• Ingest and process market data, custody feeds, and execution reports
\n
• Evolve the platform from daily batch execution to intraday and real-time trading
\n
• Scale the system to handle high volumes of concurrent orders across multiple accounts
\n
• Engineer for correctness, resiliency, operational safety, and failure recovery in high-stakes production environments
\n
• Take ownership of operational risk associated with multi-billion-dollar trading activity
\n

Required Qualifications

\n
• 8+ years of experience building production trading systems managing live capital
\n
• Expert-level Python for business logic, data pipelines, and systems integration
\n
• Deep C++ experience building low-latency, high-reliability trading systems where correctness and resiliency are critical
\n
• Claude Coding / Opus
\n
• Production experience with Smart Order Routing and exchange connectivity
\n
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals:
\n
• Asynchronous, event-driven architectures
\n
• Durable messaging patterns
\n
• Stateful workflow design
\n
• Technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS, RisingWave
\n
• Strong database expertise, including PostgreSQL and time-series databases
\n
• Experience building real-time, high-volume streaming data pipelines with materialized views
\n
• Strong financial markets domain knowledge:

• Order types and execution venues
\n
• Symbol mapping
\n
• Corporate actions
\n
• Reconciliation processes
\n
• Mission-critical systems operations experience, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting

• Strong technical communication skills and the ability to communicate upward to leadership
