As a 100% employee-owned company, employees share in the long-term success we build together.With flexible ways of working and meaningful development opportunities, you’ll build a career you can be proud to stand behind.The Opportunity Black & Veatch's Distribution business is growing rapidly, and we are seeking Associate Project Managers to support a diverse portfolio of distribution engineering services, utility programs, and EPC projects across the United States.This role offers the opportunity to develop project management skills while supporting major electric utility clients and contributing to a rapidly growing Distribution organization.Associate Project Managers work closely with Project Managers, engineering teams, and business leaders to support successful project delivery while building the experience necessary to advance into larger project and program leadership roles.The TeamThe Distribution Project Management Team is a client-facing organization responsible for delivering distribution engineering services, utility programs, and EPC projects for investor-owned utilities and other clients across the country. Our team partners closely with engineering, operations, and business leaders to deliver successful outcomes while building long-term client relationships. We value collaboration, accountability, client partnership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.Key ResponsibilitiesSupports the planning, coordination, and execution of distribution engineering services projects, utility programs, and EPC-related work. Assists Project Managers and project teams with scheduling, project controls, client communication and coordination, financial tracking, risk management, and overall project execution. Helps coordinate project priorities, deliverables, decisions, and expectations among clients, engineering teams, and key stakeholders while developing the project management capabilities needed to assume increasing responsibility within a growing utility-focused organization.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport delivery of assigned distribution projects, programs, and portfolios through coordination of scope, schedules, deliverables, budgets, quality, and project activitiesAssist Project Managers with project planning, forecasting, reporting, financial tracking, and change managementSupport day-to-day client coordination by tracking project priorities, decisions, deliverables, expectations, and follow-up actionsCoordinate project meetings, agendas, action items, documentation, and client reporting across scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks, and decisionsHelp maintain alignment with clients and project teams on scope, assumptions, priorities, acceptance criteria, and changes throughout the project lifecycleMonitor project schedules, commitments, and performance and promptly escalate emerging risks, issues, resource constraints, or potential client impactsWork closely with engineering teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to support timely decisions and successful execution of project commitmentsSupport client satisfaction by documenting feedback, coordinating follow-up actions, and helping resolve concerns before they affect project deliveryAssist with proposal development, planning activities, and business growth initiativesDevelop an understanding of client business objectives, utility project delivery, distribution engineering, and EPC execution practicesSupport continuous improvement and implementation of scalable project management and delivery practices across the Distribution organizationDemonstrate ownership, accountability, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environmentPreferred Qualifications2–5 years of experience in project management, project coordination, engineering, utility operations, construction, EPC, or other infrastructure-related rolesPrior experience supporting electric utility distribution engineering, construction, operations, or EPC projects is strongly preferredStrong organizational, communication, and collaboration skillsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesComfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and TeamsInterest in developing a long-term career in project management within the electric utility industryExperience supporting client-facing work or coordinating project teams preferredMinimum QualificationsAll applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.Work Environment/Physical DemandsHybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon managerdiscretion, job performance and work assignments.Ability to utilize audio/videoconferencing software tools for internal/external communicationSitting/standing/computer usage for extended periods of timeTravel to client sitesSalary PlanENS: Eng & Technical SpecialtiesJob Grade016Black & Veatch endeavors to make accessible to any and all users.
