General Production Worker / Truss Builder

This role focuses on building high-quality roof trusses and related building components in a fast-paced manufacturing facility. You will use hand tools and nail plates to assemble structural products that form the backbone of residential and commercial buildings. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent quality, and the ability to work efficiently on your feet throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Inspect lumber and materials for damage prior to use, identifying issues such as cracks, excessive wane, mold, or sun damage and removing defective pieces from production.
• Assist with unloading precut lumber from saws to the building station, organizing materials in designated positions to maximize efficiency during truss fabrication.
• Use pull sheets to determine and retrieve the correct quantity and type of nail plates needed for each batch of trusses being built.
• Fabricate roof trusses by placing lumber on the fabrication table and assembling components using nail plates and a hammer according to specifications.
• Ensure truss quality by following standard procedures so that all products have tight joints, no material defects, and properly positioned nail plates.
• Maintain a steady, consistent work pace while demonstrating a strong sense of urgency to meet production goals.
• Produce accurate, high-quality work that meets established standards and minimizes errors or rework.
• Arrive to work properly attired and well-groomed, demonstrating good personal hygiene and professionalism on the production floor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned, including assisting teammates in different areas of the facility as needed.
• Comply with attendance expectations by reliably reporting for scheduled shifts and supporting overall production continuity.

Essential Skills

• Capability to use a 22oz hammer repetitively throughout the shift for truss assembly.
• Prior experience working in a general labor or production environment.
• Ability to be on your feet for most of the day while performing physically demanding tasks.
• Experience or familiarity with construction, carpentry, framing, or assembly work.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods while remaining productive.
• Capacity to stay active for 8–10 hours per day, including throwing lumber, getting on and off the table, and swinging a hammer.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy in all assembled trusses.
• Reliability and commitment to meeting strict attendance expectations during the contract period.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large manufacturing facility on a work site of approximately 5.7 acres, with a main warehouse building of about 47,000 square feet. The environment is fast-paced, with music often playing in the warehouse and at workstations, creating an energetic and engaging atmosphere. Workstations in the warehouse are covered and have good airflow, helping maintain comfortable temperatures even when it is hot outside. When assisting with lifting trusses in the yard, you will work outdoors and be exposed to the elements. The facility includes a nice breakroom for rest periods. The standard shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a typical core shift of 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and mandatory overtime currently in place on weekdays; overtime on Saturdays is available on a voluntary basis. Dress expectations include arriving properly attired for a production and construction environment, with appropriate work clothing and footwear suitable for physical labor and safety requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
