The Charger / Operator will be responsible for maintaining a productivity level that is in continuous support of the departmental production schedule while maintaining quality and safety standards established for the operation. Pellet Charger ½ shift: To put primer mix in primer cups or Rimfire shells accurately and timely to meet production schedules. Operator ½ shift: Monitor the quality of the operation's output; make adjustments to keep the operation within specification, but only to the extent that it can be accomplished effectively and efficiently without the assistance of the Adjuster or Maintenance Mechanic. Shift Information: Potential openings on the following full-time shifts: Shift Q: 6pm-6am, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and every other Thursday. Training (first 6-8 weeks) - will be held on a different shift Pay Information: Start at $24.62/hour plus applicable shift differential with the first 90 day increase to $28.06 and additional increases every 90 days based on performance, up to $35.77! Experience you bring: High school diploma or GED 18 years of age or older 1+ years of on-the-job experience, with manufacturing experience preferred Manual dexterity to handle very small items Ability to work effectively in a team environment Ability to take direction from others You might have: Mechanical experience, demonstrated mechanical ability or strong desire to learn mechanical operations through on-the-job training or other technical training What you’ll do: Pellet Charger: Select proper powder type according to posted schedules. Fill holes of charging plate both accurately and timely to form primer pellets. Transfer charge pellets from charge plate to primer cups or Rimfire shells. Inspect cups and shells before and after charging, removing defective cups and shells and those not containing pellets. Maintain the charge table and work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Observe all applicable safety rules and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards to supervisor. Conducts training of employees that have a variety of skill levels. Perform other duties as assigned. Operator: Monitor the quality of the operation's output on an ongoing basis; make adjustments to keep the operation within specification, but only to the extent that it can be accomplished effectively and efficiently without the assistance of the Adjuster or Maintenance Mechanic. Seek assistance from the Adjuster or Maintenance Mechanics when attempting more advanced adjustments, but continue to work with them as a part of on-the-job training to enhance mechanical skills. Maintain a productivity level that will ensure on-time delivery of product to customer (inside or outside the company). Actively participate in the Natural Work Team process in department. Monitor work area to ensure that all safety precautions are being taken: make sure area is kept neat and orderly; follow all established safety rules and procedures; and report all safety hazards/issues or potential safety problems to supervisor immediately. Conducts training of employees that have a variety of skill levels. Perform other duties as assigned. Adjust or operate machines if trained to do so. Physical Requirements: Charger: All duties are done while standing. Frequent grip, pushing, pulling and exertion of downward pressure by arms and shoulders, bending of waist and reaching of upper arms and shoulders to force primer mix batches (weighing approximately 2 pounds) into charging plate holes. Extension of arms at shoulder level and rotation of shoulder and forearms to transfer pellets from charge plate to cups or shells. Manual dexterity and fingering to remove defects from charging plate. Occasional lifting, pushing and manipulating (waist and shoulder area) of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Near vision to visually inspect cups and shells for defects. Must have normal color vision. Operator: A majority of time spent sitting, standing or moving about depending on specific operation. Frequent reaching, handling, fingering and manual dexterity to assemble, operate, adjust, and inspect. Occasional bending and extension of arms at shoulder level. Occasional lifting, pushing and manipulating (waist and shoulder area) of objects weighing up to 35 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Near vision to handle a large number of very small parts and to detect visual quality defects. Must have normal color vision and normal depth perception capability. Mental Requirements: Attention to detail to identify defects. Ability to take direction from others. Communication skills to work effectively in a team environment. High level of mental attentiveness to manipulate and visually inspect small parts and to ensure safety. Reading and basic math comprehension to understand and interpret training guides, standard operating procedures and quality information (SPC, charts, graphs, etc.) and to complete production reports. Interpersonal communication skills to facilitate problem-solving and to interact daily with internal customers and suppliers, other shift associates and work teams. Equipment Used: Charger: Charge bed, charge plate, scraper, pin plate, conveyer, tweezers. Operator: May include pick, wood hammer, plates, inspection gauges, primer storage containers and the operations of primer assembly, loader, packer and draw press. Working Environment: Charger: Some exposure to airborne lead. Continual exposure to explosives, wet floors and mechanical hazards (conveyers). All work is done with or around others. Direction frequently received. Operator: Majority of work is spent on the manufacturing floor subject to continual exposure to noise/vibration, mechanical equipment hazards and moving equipment such as fork trucks and motorized carts. Exposure to wide variety of chemicals depending on area assigned. Work Environment: Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations. Pay Range: $24.62 - $35.77 The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
