Community Support Specialist ERE

Support Recovery at a Critical Point as a Community Support Specialist – ERE This role will be based out of our Union Behavioral Health Crisis Center. Join a mission-driven team supporting individuals in crisis through Missouri’s Emergency Room Enhancement (ERE) program. As a Community Support Specialist, you’ll be the connection point between emergency care and long-term recovery, helping individuals stabilize, access services, and re-engage in their communities. This Is a Great Opportunity for Someone Who: Wants to make an immediate, visible difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health and housing crises Thrives in fast-paced, hands-on environments where no two days look the same Values flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to walk alongside someone in their recovery journey Key Responsibilities Assisting individuals in accessing mental health, medical, financial, and housing services Providing direct support for essential needs like food, shelter, and clothing during times of crisis Coaching and training in independent living skills such as budgeting, transportation, and self-care Helping individuals navigate community resources for long-term support and stability Following up on appointments and assisting with forms, documentation, and applications Providing transportation when needed to support access to care and services Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise • High School/GED required • Associates or bachelor’s degree in a human service related field preferred QUALIFICATION(S): WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must qualify for position based on overall CSS requirements in at least one of the options listed: o Qualified addiction professional; o Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from a college or university included in the U.S. Department of Education’s database of accredited schools at o Any four-year degree or combination of higher education and qualifying experience; o Four years of qualifying experience; or o Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree as designated by the Department of Mental Health. • Qualifying experience must include delivery of service to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities. • A valid driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required You’ll Be A Great Fit for This Role if You: Have a heart for crisis response and want to be a stabilizing force for people in need Understand the importance of empathy, consistency, and advocacy in service delivery Are highly organized and resourceful when navigating systems and community supports Feel comfortable working in emergency department settings and community environments Believe everyone deserves access to the support they need to recover and thrive
