Steel Shop Production Manager

Location MD: Gaithersburg - Steel Requirements Oversee day to day operation of fabrication and customer service. Review shop drawings for content and accuracy. Assign duties based, assess accurate completion and maintain functionality and order as shop work progresses.

MUST HAVE PREVIOUS STEEL EXPERIENCE

Duties & Responsibilities Read and layout shop drawings. Assign and delegate shop work. Oversee that work is completed on time and per spec. Maintain inventory – verify assigned work has adequate material to ensure completion and coordinate with Yard manager to keep stocked material available. Coordinate with Project Management team and Estimating on scheduling of commercial work, completion dates and material requirements. Communication is paramount for maintaining workflow and productivity. Coordinate with Inside Sales to ensure lead times are expeditious and accommodate all other shop workload. Coordinate with Yard manager to maintain proper equipment (PM) preventative maintenance, timely reporting, and repairs for equipment that is malfunctioning or broken. Prioritize safety, lead tool talks, ensure shop personnel practice safe use of equipment and use PPE. Report on production and shop needs at weekly Steel Production meetings. Accountabilities Timely and efficient production of commercial fabrication while maintaining volume and accuracy of residential fabrication. Maintain stocked, pre‑cut and rebar to ensure availability for sale and fabrication requirements.
