Licensed Practical Nurse - SCI Coal Township

Position Summary Join the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as a Licensed Practical Nurse and bring your skills to a team that values quality care. Responsibilities Clinical Support: Perform nursing tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with treatments, and supporting activities of daily living. Medication Administration: Prepare and administer prescribed medications and record all related actions accurately. Emergency Response: Provide first aid, CPR, or AED support during medical emergencies as appropriate. Health Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic health records and prepare reports needed for care continuity. Care Coordination: Communicate important information to nursing, custody, and administrative staff to support safe operations. Supply Management: Sterilize equipment and maintain proper inventory levels for treatment areas. Work Schedule & Compensation Full‑time employment. Three (3) shifts cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year: 1st shift 6:00 am ­– 2:30 pm; 2nd shift 2:00 pm ­– 10:30 pm; 3rd shift 10:00 pm ­– 6:30 am. Work hours to be determined; alternative work schedules may be available depending on operational needs. Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework is not available for this position. Starting salary $67,558 per year (before taxes). Qualifications & Experience Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees holding a temporary practice permit must obtain a Licensed Practical Nurse license within one (1) year as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. PA residency requirement is currently waived. Individuals within 60 days of completing an approved LPN program may apply. At the time of appointment, proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license is required. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. Must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements. Veterans Preference Pennsylvania law (51 Pa.
