Heavy Civil Estimator – Earthwork, Grading & Paving Company: KDW Construction Location: Livermore, California Compensation: $125k - $200k DOE Position Type: Full-Time Position Overview KDW Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator with a background in earthwork, grading, and paving to join our team. This is a key position for an estimator who understands the Northern California construction market and can manage the estimating process from initial opportunity through bid submission and client follow-up. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical estimating skills with the ability to build relationships, communicate directly with clients, and help identify and develop new business opportunities for KDW. This is not strictly a behind-the-desk estimating position. The Heavy Civil Estimator will represent KDW with clients, industry partners, and the broader construction community and will play an active role in supporting the company's continued growth. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for earthwork, grading, paving, site development, and related heavy civil scopes . Review plans, specifications, geotechnical information, addenda, and other bid documents to determine project requirements and identify potential risks or opportunities. Client & Business Development Work directly with clients throughout the estimating and preconstruction process. Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other industry partners. Support KDW's business development efforts by developing new relationships and strengthening existing ones. Attend industry events, networking functions, association meetings, and other business-development activities on behalf of KDW. Professionally represent KDW and help expand the company's presence and reputation within the California construction market. Required Qualifications Demonstrated estimating experience involving earthwork, grading, paving, sitework, or related heavy civil construction . Experience estimating residential and/or commercial construction projects . Prior construction and estimating experience in Northern California and a working understanding of the California construction environment. Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid is required. Established relationships within the California construction market are a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Compensation KDW offers a competitive compensation package that is negotiable and dependent upon the candidate's experience, qualifications, industry relationships, and demonstrated estimating capabilities.
