General Manager

Dewberry Farm is seeking an experienced, hands‑on General Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operation of our agritourism and family entertainment destination in Brookshire, Texas. The General Manager serves as the senior on‑site leader of Dewberry Farm and is responsible for the overall operational performance, team leadership, safety, guest experience, budget execution, and seasonal readiness of the property. This position works closely with the Director of Operations and executive leadership of Peerless Production Group (PPG) to execute company strategy, financial expectations, operating standards, and long‑term initiatives at the property level. The successful candidate will be a strong leader who develops other leaders, builds a positive and accountable culture, manages a complex seasonal operation, and consistently delivers an exceptional guest experience. Leadership & Culture Serve as the senior on‑site leader of Dewberry Farm and provide leadership to all department directors and managers. Lead by example and promote professional, efficient, courteous, and genuine hospitality toward both guests and team members. Build and maintain a positive, accountable, team‑oriented workplace culture. Recruit, develop, coach, and retain strong department leaders and team members. Hold department leaders accountable for performance, staffing, training, budgets, safety, and operating standards. Maintain an accessible leadership presence and strong communication throughout the organization. Serve as the primary communication link between PPG executive leadership and the Dewberry Farm leadership team. Translate company objectives and executive direction into clear, actionable expectations for department leaders. Operations Provide overall leadership for the day‑to‑day operation of Dewberry Farm. Ensure all departments operate efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with established company standards and policies. Lead seasonal planning and preparation in partnership with department directors and PPG leadership. Ensure the property is operationally prepared for each season, special event, and major operating period. Coordinate across Operations, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Retail, Guest Services, Business Administration, and other departments to ensure consistent guest experience. Ensure appropriate signage, supplies, equipment, staffing, and operating resources are prepared and available when needed. Identify operational challenges and implement solutions before they negatively affect guests, employees, safety, or financial performance. Continually evaluate operations for opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and guest satisfaction. Staffing & Team Development Oversee recruiting and hiring efforts across Dewberry Farm. Partner with department directors to establish seasonal staffing plans. Ensure staffing levels and schedules remain within approved labor budgets. Establish and maintain effective training programs throughout the organization. Lead the planning and execution of employee orientation prior to each operating season. Ensure department leaders are properly training, coaching, and developing their teams. Work with leadership to build a strong pipeline of supervisors, managers, and future department leaders. Ensure schedules and time records are completed and approved accurately and on time. Partner with Business Administration to ensure required employee documentation and processes are completed appropriately. Financial & Budget Responsibility Operate Dewberry Farm within approved operating and labor budgets. Participate in the annual planning and budgeting process with PPG leadership. Work with department directors to develop and manage departmental expense budgets. Review operating results and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and financial performance. Hold department leaders accountable for managing expenses within approved budgets. Communicate significant budget variances to the Director of Operations and develop appropriate corrective action. Partner with PPG leadership and revenue‑focused departments to identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve overall property performance. Ensure established cash‑handling and financial‑control procedures are consistently followed. Safety & Compliance Promote a culture where safety is the first and foremost consideration in every department. Ensure attractions and operating areas are inspected and operated according to established company procedures. Hold department leaders accountable for maintaining safe operating environments for guests and employees. Ensure required inspections, documentation, training, and operating procedures are completed consistently. Immediately address safety concerns and elevate significant issues to PPG leadership when appropriate. Guest Experience Maintain guest satisfaction as a top priority in all operational decisions. Establish expectations for professional, friendly, and genuine hospitality throughout the organization. Monitor the guest experience and work with department leaders to resolve recurring service or operational issues. Continually identify opportunities to improve the quality, consistency, and overall value of Dewberry Farm guest experience. Qualifications Three or more years of progressive leadership experience in attractions, agritourism, family entertainment, hospitality, events, amusement parks, resorts, high‑volume entertainment venues, or a related industry preferred. Previous experience of managing managers or department‑level leaders strongly preferred. Experience managing a large seasonal or hourly workforce preferred. Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets, labor expenses, scheduling, and departmental performance. Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and decision‑making skills. Ability to translate organizational goals into clear expectations and measurable action. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple departments and priorities simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and utilize company operating systems. Strong commitment to safety, hospitality, accountability, and team development. Must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, highly seasonal environment. Must have flexible availability during operating seasons, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation. What Success Looks Like The successful General Manager will build a strong leadership team capable of operating Dewberry Farm consistently without constant executive‑level intervention. Success in this position means: Department leaders understand expectations and are held accountable for results. Seasonal staffing and training are completed on time and at the appropriate levels. Labor and operating expenses remain within approved budgets. Attractions and operating areas consistently meet company safety standards. Guest experience remains a priority throughout every department. Problems are identified and resolved at the property level whenever possible. Communication between Dewberry Farm and PPG leadership is timely, accurate, and solutions oriented. The organization continually develops stronger supervisors, managers, and department leaders.
