Job Description

The Construction Laborer supports ironworkers and rigging crews on large industrial construction projects. This role involves assisting with steel erection activities, spotting lift operations, and performing general labor tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and productive job site. You contribute directly to meeting tight project deadlines in a high-performance environment while working closely with experienced tradespeople on complex commercial construction work.

Responsibilities

• Assist ironworkers with day-to-day tasks, including handling materials, positioning components, and supporting steel erection activities.

• Spot lift work and support rigging operations by safely guiding loads, maintaining clear communication, and following all safety protocols.

• Sweep, clean, and maintain the work area to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient job site at all times.

• Bolt racks and steel connectors together according to specifications, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections.

• Follow directions from site supervisors and crew leads and complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.

• Demonstrate flexibility in daily duties, performing a variety of tasks beyond primary labor responsibilities as needed by the site and project requirements.

• Work productively in a high-pressure, high-output environment and consistently meet production and performance expectations.

• Maintain excellent attendance and reliability to help the crew meet daily headcount and schedule requirements.

• Work safely at heights and across a large job site, adhering strictly to OSHA standards and all site-specific safety rules.

• Perform physically demanding work, including standing and walking for extended periods, lifting 50+ pounds, and walking several miles per day across a large facility.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of commercial construction experience, with a strong experience in general labor on large job sites.

• Demonstrated experience in construction environments, including working around ironworkers, riggers, and steel erection activities.

• OSHA 10 certification, with a solid understanding of construction safety practices and regulations.

• Ability to safely assist with lift operations, including spotting and supporting rigging activities.

• Capability to bolt racks and steel connectors together using appropriate tools and methods.

• Comfort working at heights and in elevated areas as required by industrial construction projects.

• Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day, lift 50+ pounds regularly, and traverse a large job site.

• Reliability and strong attendance, with a commitment to meeting daily schedule and headcount expectations.

• Willingness to work in a high-pressure, high-productivity environment and consistently meet production goals.

• Flexibility to perform a wide range of tasks beyond a single trade or duty as site needs change.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working at large semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facilities such as TSMC is preferred.

• Experience working with steel contractors or on projects involving structural steel is preferred.

• Prior exposure to large industrial or commercial job sites with tight deadlines and complex logistics.

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work assignments on site.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with ironworkers, riggers, and other crew members.

• Proactive, safety-first mindset and willingness to follow all site and company safety procedures.

Work Environment

This role is based on large, high-output industrial construction sites, including advanced manufacturing facilities. You work approximately five 10-hour days per week, with regular opportunities for additional hours on Saturdays, often totaling around 50 hours per week or more when weekend work is available. Start times vary and can be as early as 4:00 a.m. during the summer, so comfort with early shifts is important. The environment is high-productivity and high-pressure, with tight deadlines and clear production expectations. Attendance and reliability are critical, as crews must meet daily headcount requirements. The site is very large, requiring significant walking each day, including travel from parking areas to work zones, and you must be comfortable working at heights and across multiple areas of the facility. The role is physically demanding, with extended time on your feet, frequent lifting of 50+ pounds, and continuous movement throughout the shift, all within a safety-focused construction setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
