- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Collections Department to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop, implement, and maintain collection policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate department team members.
- Foster employee development and support career growth within the department and organization.
- Manage collateral tracking for all loans to ensure appropriate protection of secured assets.
- Work closely with repossession agents and auctions to ensure timely recovery and liquidation of collateral in accordance with state laws.
- Maintain accurate collection records and oversee the management of collection software and systems.
- Evaluate delinquent accounts individually and determine the most effective strategies to return loans to performing status.
- Promote a positive, collaborative team environment focused on achieving collection goals.
- Collaborate with third-party partners, auditors, examiners, and company leadership as needed.
- 5+ years supervisory experience in a first-party automotive collections environment or comparable financial institution.
- Strong knowledge of collection procedures, credit principles, and applicable collection laws and regulations.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships with customers, vendors, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
