As a Machine Operator at Kennametal, you will operate and maintain production equipment, ensuring quality and efficiency in the manufacturing of carbide or metal components. You'll work in a shift-based, safety-focused environment, following established procedures and meeting production targets.
Job Title: Machine Operator
Location: 100 Kennametal Dr, Weldon, NC 27890, United States
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour
Schedule: 2-2-3 shift (12-hour shifts, every other weekend off)
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate production machines such as pressing lines, coating furnaces, or cleaning machines.
- Set up machines, enter job data, and perform pre-operation safety and function checks.
- Monitor equipment for defects, malfunctions, or abnormal conditions; make minor adjustments as needed.
- Visually and dimensionally inspect products using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Complete quality checks and document inspection and production data accurately.
- Perform routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and housekeeping on machines and in work areas.
- Support change-overs, material tracking, and inventory management for efficient production flow.
- Follow all ISO, plant, and safety requirements including using required PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred but not required (training provided for fast learners/mechanically inclined candidates).
- Basic math and computer/data entry skills.
- Ability to use measurement devices (rulers, calipers, micrometers).
- Attention to detail, strong reliability, and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30-40 lbs, and comply with all safety protocols.
Schedule: 2-2-3 Shift Pattern
- Work 2 days on, 2 days off, then 3 days on
- The following week: 2 days off, 2 days on, and 3 days off
- 12-hour shifts (either days or nights)
- Every other weekend is a 3-day weekend off
Work Environment
- Manufacturing setting, usually climate-controlled.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment provided and required at all times.
