Senior Mechanical Engineer (10-15 years)

Job Title Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience. The ideal candidate will be a self‑motivated team player who works closely with our business development team and other discipline leads to develop technical proposals and take a proactive role in marketing and business development. This role provides the opportunity to mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative, multidisciplinary office and to work directly with clients providing consulting services. Responsibilities Design HVAC and plumbing systems. Manage and design multiple concurrent projects. Interpret technical drawings, including ductwork plans, piping plans, sections, isometric piping drawings, and bills of materials. Lead design team efforts and manage project teams for budget and schedule control. Develop fee‑based and qualification‑based proposals. Perform HVAC calculations and analysis using standard industry programs. Familiarize with relevant codes: mechanical, energy, plumbing, and ensure designs conform with all applicable codes and client standards. Multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment. Apply strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities. Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers. Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; understand database concepts and work with marketing databases and proposal resources files. Conduct marketing and business‑development activities. Contribute positively to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale. Travel as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering (required). 10 to 15 years of engineering experience. Experience with load calculation software. Experience with AutoCAD and Revit. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Project management experience and/or certifications. Desire to lead inter‑disciplinary projects and project teams. Experience with energy modeling (plus). Local AHJ experience and relationships (plus). Active local industry involvement (plus). Experience in the local AEC consulting market is preferred.
