Registered Nurse - Stepdown/Med Surg

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule or Shift

12-hour nighttime shifts, 1900-0730, scheduled for 3 nights per week: either Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Stepdown/Med Surg unit will provide care for patients experiencing respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections (UTI), acute kidney injury (AKI), and chest pain. The unit has 20 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in stepdown and 1:5-6 on the floor. Nurses will be required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown/med-surg setting.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including respiratory status.
• Administer medications and titrate drips as required.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement patient care plans.
• Document all patient care activities accurately in the EPIC charting system.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid nursing license with stepdown experience preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA).
• Ability to read telemetry strips; monitor techs will also be present in the unit.
