Position Overview:

The Coaxial Field Engineer for High Split works will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of coaxial cable systems in an existing network, specifically focusing on high split technology. This role involves ensuring optimal performance of the network by supporting the transition to a high-split architecture, performing upgrades, and resolving issues related to coaxial systems in the field.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of coaxial cable systems, experience with high split architecture, and the ability to work effectively in the field while managing client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation & Upgrades:
• • Install, configure, and upgrade high-split coaxial systems on existing cable networks.
  • Perform hardware installations, such as splitters, amplifiers, taps and line extenders, as part of the high-split transition.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with engineering standards and specifications.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
• • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in the coaxial network, including signal loss, interference, and hardware malfunctions.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on the coaxial network to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to address complex network issues and perform troubleshooting in real-time.

• Network Performance Monitoring:
• • Monitor the performance of the coaxial network post-installation and during upgrades, ensuring that all systems are performing within acceptable parameters.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess the quality of signal strength, noise levels, and other important metrics.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including network changes, troubleshooting steps, and any maintenance issues.
  • Provide detailed field reports on the condition of the coaxial network and any potential areas for improvement or repair.
  • Document any deviations from standard operating procedures and propose corrective actions.
• Client Interaction:
• • May serve as a direct point of contact for customers regarding network-related inquiries or issues, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Ensure all customer concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Collaboration with Engineering Team:
• • Work closely with the engineering and project management teams to ensure that high-split work is integrated smoothly into the existing infrastructure.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering team based on field observations, recommending improvements or adjustments to network plans.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education:
• • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience:
• • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting of coaxial cable systems with leading service providers within USA.
  • Experience with high-split network architecture and related technologies is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• • Strong understanding of coaxial cable systems, signal flow, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers, signal testers (Viavi 620 & 630), and other diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of network optimization techniques, including frequency splitting, signal balancing, and interference mitigation.
• Certifications (Preferred):
• • Cable Technician Certifications (e.g., SCTE, BICSI) is a plus.
  • Valid USA driver’s license and a clean driving record (as travel to various field locations is required).
• Soft Skills:
• • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining a high level of accountability.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work at heights (e.g., on poles or ladders) and in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work in tight spaces and handle cable management and installation tasks in confined areas.

Additional Information:

• Travel: This position will require occasional travel to job sites and client locations.
• Work Hours: Depending on the project schedule, work hours may include evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts, night shift (mid-night to 8am).
