Job Summary:

An Automotive Main Line Technician fixes, inspects, and maintains cars, trucks, SUVs and other vehicles. Main duties include using tools to identify and diagnose potential issues with a customers vehicle, explain problems with the vehicle to the customer and perform maintenance on the vehicles to fix or prevent them from future breakdowns or issues.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Repair brake and steering systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems.
• Replace or repair transmissions and fuel components as needed.
• Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
• Perform emissions inspections, safety checks and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations.
• Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed.
• Must read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
  

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Understanding of automotive systems.
• Ability to use the diagnostic equipment and tools including power tools.
• Willingness to learn with hands-on training.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance.
• Ability to provide friendly customer service.

Education and Experience:

• Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training preferred.
• Working knowledge of state inspection guidelines, particularly those concerning emissions and safety, is advantageous.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  
• ASE certification.
• State inspection license.
• General Motors or Cadillac experience preferred.
• 2+ years of technician experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Prolonged periods of standing.
• Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, pulling and lifting.
