We are looking for a detail-oriented Buyer to support purchasing operations for a manufacturing environment in Monmouth County, New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position focuses on securing materials, components, supplies, and services that keep production moving efficiently and cost-effectively. The role partners with suppliers and internal teams to manage order accuracy, delivery timing, inventory support, and issue resolution while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and update purchase orders according to production schedules, material demand, and stock requirements.

• Track inventory activity and usage patterns to help maintain balanced stock levels and avoid shortages or overstock conditions.

• Work directly with suppliers to confirm pricing, quantities, lead times, and shipment schedules.

• Review outstanding orders, follow up on late deliveries, and address supply concerns before they affect operations.

• Prioritize and accelerate urgent material requests to reduce the risk of manufacturing downtime.

• Check supplier acknowledgements against order details to ensure accuracy and compliance with requested terms.

• Keep purchasing records current and accurate within company systems for reporting and order tracking purposes.

• Investigate and resolve issues related to pricing variances, damaged goods, incorrect shipments, missing items, returns, credits, and invoice discrepancies in coordination with vendors and Accounting.

• Request and compare vendor quotes, support sourcing decisions, and identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs while maintaining quality and service expectations.

• 2+ years of experience in buying, procurement, or purchasing support.

• Background in creating and managing purchase orders within a fast-paced business environment.

• Familiarity with purchasing activities related to materials, components, supplies, and vendor coordination.

• Ability to monitor open orders, track deliveries, and respond quickly to supply or inventory issues.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate purchasing data and documentation.

• Effective communication skills for working with suppliers, Accounting, and cross-functional internal teams.

• Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

• Ability to evaluate quotations and support cost-conscious purchasing decisions.
