Job Overview RWJ Barnabas Health is looking to add a qualified part‑time CT Technologist in Somerville, NJ. The CAT Scan Technician will perform duties directly involved with a variety of CT scan procedures, prioritizing patient care and quality. Qualifications Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work independently. Certifications and Licenses Required State of New Jersey License and ARRT CT certification obtained within 12–24 months of hire CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of hire Scheduling Requirements Night shift, 16 hours per week Part‑time schedule Essential Functions Position patients and prepare studies as prescribed by standard operating procedures. Position all anatomical parts accurately. Prepare the environment to ensure a prompt commencement of the procedure. Verify that all necessary equipment is ready before starting the exam. Under Radiologist direction, administer cleansing preps and contrast agents. Apply proper radiation protection techniques to safeguard patients and personnel. Protect reproductive organs with appropriate apparel when not required for imaging. Transfer and properly position patients to obtain desired radiographic results per physician specifications. Assist physicians during examinations. Administer IV contrast media, including venipuncture, following radiology policy and procedure. Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross‑contamination; secure and return supplies; maintain room and inventory. Recommend and troubleshoot equipment maintenance; log maintenance activities. Ensure supplies are available and restock as needed. Manage patient scheduling and the smooth flow of the schedule, including contrast administration. Maintain quality control of CT scan examinations. Additional Responsibilities Utilize the computer system according to SOPs: enter studies in RIS and HIS, track cases, split and correct studies in PACS, perform related clerical tasks, cooperate with all hospital personnel, rotate shifts covering weekends and on‑call duties, attend in‑service training, explain procedures and answer patient questions, complete documentation, assist in instruction of student technologists, demonstrate technical skills, evaluate student performance, and fill observation forms.
