Hourly Pay Range: $38.16 - $59.15 - The hourly pay rate is determined by the candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights Position: Full‑time, dual role – 0.4 FTE Clinical Nurse Educator (department‑based) and 0.4 FTE RN supporting a 4L Med‑Surg/Overflow unit. (RN salary range $36.00–$55.80) Location: Evanston, IL Full Time Hours: Educator – Monday‑Friday, department needs; RN – Sunday‑Saturday, unit needs A Brief Overview A Nurse Educator is a nurse with prior clinical experience in the care of med‑surg patients and a focus on staff development and nursing education. The Clinical Nurse Educator – Department Based supports professional nursing practice by developing, coaching, and mentoring nursing staff while maintaining clinical proficiency through direct patient care, precepting, and bedside just‑in‑time education. What You Will Do Provide direct patient care. Act as a clinical resource and maintain visibility in the clinical environment for just‑in‑time learning facilitation and direct patient care. Offer flexibility in scheduling to accommodate educational activities at various times. Serve as a clinical mentor and role model for new and existing staff. Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Manager to assess and define education and performance needs of staff. Support role transition and skill mastery as staff advance from novice to expert. Assist in developing and implementing unit/service‑line competency requirements for nurses and patient care technicians. Facilitate the onboarding of employees, ensuring integration at unit and system-wide levels. Manage education and training processes to engage learners in critical inquiry, thinking, and problem‑solving. Precept newly registered nurses to the department. Mentor and evaluate preceptors to enhance learning experiences for new hires. Evaluate orientation and onboarding experiences for safety and independence readiness. Organize on‑unit in‑services for new products, equipment, policies, and procedures. Partner with the Clinical Nurse Manager to lead unit council development and participate in shared decision‑making councils. Drive unit safety, quality outcomes, and patient experience. Promote a positive professional climate and lifelong learning resources. Support specialty certification preparation. Demonstrate effective communication principles and promote interdisciplinary communication. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Will Need Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing plus Bachelor’s in a health‑related field; Master’s preferred. Certification: Current Illinois Nursing Licensure. Current specialty certification or required within one year of role. Current Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and/or Neonatal Resuscitation as applicable. Experience: At least five years clinical experience in a medical‑center or academic setting. Preferred Skills: Adult learner knowledge, strong written and verbal communication, flexibility in work schedule, teamwork orientation, presentation skills, continual professional development, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, virtual meeting platforms, literature search, Workday, and electronic medical record use.
