Corrections Officer

Correction Officer Trainees Correction Officer Trainees are required to participate in and satisfactorily complete the requirements of a 12‑month training program before advancing to Correction Officer. As part of the program, you will attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for a minimum 8‑week formal training program. Correction Officers are responsible for the custody and security, as well as for the safety and well‑being of incarcerated individuals in state correctional facilities, shock incarceration correctional facilities, work release centers and a drug treatment campus. Salary and Benefits Salary (Effective May 29, 2025) Correction Officer Trainee (NS – Equated to Grade 14) and Correction Officer (Grade 15) receive $66,365 starting salary during Academy training and first year. After one year the salary ranges from $69,762 to $84,024 after seven years*. Appointees may be eligible for advanced placement upon appointment to full performance level Grade 15 with a starting salary up to $84,024. The salary range includes a $5,000 annual geographic pay for all locations throughout New York State.
