Shift Details Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Full-time / Nights / NICU Required Overview The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple‑problem patient situations, primarily in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management and significant independent decision‑making and self‑direction. In addition to direct patient care, the RT II provides patient, family/support system education, coordinates activities, supports staff development, and engages in professional and self‑developmental activities. The RT II is responsible for providing patient care with an understanding and awareness of population‑specific needs, addressing biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs, and participates in the education of new employees and others. Responsibilities Complete patient care, documentation, and education. Collaborate with health care team members in planning patient care. Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen & medical gas therapy. Perform ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care), and arterial blood gas sampling & analysis. Educate patients and mentor/precept new employees, students, and peers. Assist in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, Cardiac Service procedures, and Pulmonary Diagnostic Testing. Promote current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging. Advocate high levels of patient safety (Medication Safety, NPSG, etc.) and performance improvement initiatives. Promote evidence‑based practice and review revised and new DPPs. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Qualifications Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science. Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum Experience: 0–2 years clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care. Minimum Skills: Ability to communicate well, critical thinking skills, establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals, and computer skills including familiarity with databases. Good customer relations, assessment, and communication skills are required. Required Licenses & Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist; Respiratory Care Professional; Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor and Provisional; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Instructor and Provisional; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Instructor and Provisional; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) – Instructor and Provisional. #J-18808-Ljbffr
