Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be located at our Kings Mountain, NC facility. Relocation benefits will be provided within the United States only. Salary: $86,000 – $126,000 per year. Salary information is a general guideline and is based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations. What you’ll do Monitor, improve and maintain processes in the area of responsibility for transmission components in the Kings Mountain facility through: Development of safe work methods and processes. Development of processes that result in a high level of quality. Updating work instructions, posted references, process alerts, PFMEA, process flows, control plans, standard work, and related documents. Improving the reliability and capability of equipment. Evaluating related processes for efficiency, waste reduction, and work balancing (lean tools: A3, Kaizen). Becoming a lean tool expert in A3, VSM and Set Up Reduction. Implementation of change through: Evaluation of change notifications and a quick understanding of the impact to processes. Project management of cross‑functional teams such as safety, controls, maintenance, material delivery and operators for process changes and necessary training. Evaluate, improve and update PFMEAs per APQP guidelines, work instructions and job safety analysis. Development and testing of improved fail‑safe strategies through part design, 3D printing and testing. Responding to corrective actions to help drive continuous improvement. Active member of a cross‑functional Flow Line team to meet departmental goals and objectives. Participation in capital planning, investigation of equipment alternatives, preparation of appropriation justifications, implementation of equipment, and evaluation of results. Assistance in the implementation and deployment of actions to ensure compliance with all safety regulations as they apply to areas of responsibility. Maintain a constant search for identifiable and measurable cost reductions through scrap analysis and technology applications. Work with operations, engineering technicians and maintenance technicians on day‑to‑day production issues. Create and revise process drawings, process sheets and routings both in Oracle and Matrix. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years experience in a manufacturing environment. Eaton will not consider applicants for immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Gear manufacturing experience. Experience with Industry 4.0 tools such as automation, additive manufacturing, SPC, real‑time production monitoring. Experience with statistical methods used to analyze process variations. Design experience in ProEngineer or related CAD systems. 3D printing experience. Experience with PLC-related logic and robotics (Fanuc) troubleshooting and recovery. Skills Capability to conduct time studies and implement solutions for bottleneck improvements and line balancing. Knowledge of environmental laws and OSHA rules and regulations. Lean manufacturing knowledge. Project management knowledge. Working knowledge and experience manufacturing, specifically knowledge and operation of CNC machining, lean tools, assembly, blueprint reading, measurement systems, and working within a structured team environment. Knowledge of the financial side of the business, specifically departmental budgets, capital planning, profit planning, and production measurement systems. Ability to adjust priorities to meet continuously changing schedules. Ability to flex to off‑shift coverage when required. Coordination of projects involving many groups such as engineering, production, quality, tool design, EHS. Good working relationships with peers, supervisors, operators, and managers must be maintained in order to be effective. Assure that the efficiency of the plant and quality of the parts stay high through employee involvement. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
