WebSphere Administrator Position

This is a WebSphere Administrator position. The responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinates and implements builds and application deployments for WebSphere applications on a scheduled basis; monitors performance of critical system applications and resolves operational problems in accordance with corporate guidelines; assists application development staff with the architecture and development of WebSphere applications; installs and maintains WebSphere and related software on UNIX, Linux, and Windows platforms; manages WebSphere configurations. Some of these activities must be performed outside normal business hours and on weekends to minimize the impact to our customers. There are 24x7 on-call responsibilities.

This position requires:

• Extensive WebSphere Application Server Administration experience using WebSphere versions 8.5.5 and 9.0 in a multi-node, clustered environment.
• Understanding of JMS administration in support of a WebSphere Application Server infrastructure.
• Understanding of Security and JDBC configurations.
• Experience patching WebSphere Application Server ND, WebSphere Liberty Edition, and JDK.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving problems related to WebSphere applications, and general infrastructure anomalies.
• Advanced UNIX skills. Candidates must be capable of completing administration tasks without GUI toolsets.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Support outside normal office hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm), including weekends and holidays

Preferred skills include familiarity with following technologies/software solutions:

• AWS/Azure General Skills
• Kubernetes/Helm
• IBM UrbanCode Deploy (uDeploy)
• Automation Configuration tools such as Ansible
• Spring Boot Microservice installation and configuration
• Performance/debugging tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk

Requirements:

• This position requires a BA/BS in Computer Science and 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer.
• Equivalent experience supporting complex and critical IT environments will be evaluated in lieu of these requirements where applicable.
