Apprentice Finish Grinders

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is accepting applications for full-time Apprentice Finish Grinders to join our Carbide manufacturing team. We are looking for individuals who desire to do precision work and enjoy working in a manufacturing environment where contributions matter, growth is supported, and success is shared.

What You'll Do :

As an Apprentice Finish Grinder, you will learn a skill which is in high demand and grow professionally in a career within our employee-owned company. Essential responsibilities include:

• Report to work on time and ready to learn and accomplish tasks
• Attend on-site apprenticeship classes in addition to on-the-job learning while performing responsibilities on the shop floor
• Learn to operate and understand manual and CNC grinding equipment
• Learn to grind carbide components according to exact blueprint specifications
• Read prints & job orders to determine dimensions and machine set-up
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media
• Ensure proper grade segregation is practiced at all work stations
• Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

Knowledge and Skills

• Must have math & mechanical skills/aptitude
• Must have the ability & desire to do precision work
• Able to work well independently and cooperatively with team
• Knowledge of blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers is a plus
• Regular attendance and solid performance in apprenticeship classes
• Expectation to work primarily on daylight shift, but available to work any shift needed; stand 8-10 hours per day, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Education/Experience:

• Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• No experience necessary, however, previous experience with grinding machines is preferred
