What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care to adults with complex medical conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, DKA, post-heart cath, or post-arteriogram/arteriogram cases
• Manage a patient load of up to 3 patients per RN in a fast-paced PCU setting
• Perform assessments, administer medications, and monitor vital signs, including arterial lines, IV management, tube feedings, and diabetes care
• Pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival, including MedSurg RN practices
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, including hospitalists, RTs, OT, PT, and speech therapists
• Document care accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR system
• Follow hospital protocols, including proper badge, uniform, and professionalism standards
• Adapt to floating between stroke and medical/surgical units, with flexibility for frequent unit changes
• Cover 2/3 major holidays as scheduled
• Work 4-day weeks alternating with 3-day weeks, with options for 3/2 or 5/2 rotations

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
• At least 2 years of acute care RN experience; first-time travelers must meet this requirement
• Ability to pass EKG competency exam
• Skills in CVL management, arterial lines, foley management, tube feedings, drip titration (Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin)
Preferred:
• Experience working in PCU/stroke units or similar high-acuity settings
