Stationary EngineerThis role provides hands-on maintenance and engineering support within a corporate headquarters environment, ensuring building systems, mechanical equipment, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You respond to repair requests from visitors and associates, perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of building and kitchen equipment, and maintain accurate records of all work performed. The position requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering professional, customer-focused service to senior-level tenants.Responsibilities:Respond promptly to visitor and associate repair requests and service calls, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely and professional manner.Communicate clearly with visitors and associates to understand maintenance needs and provide updates on work status and resolution.Conduct preventive maintenance on building operations-related mechanical equipment, tools, and kitchen equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.Log and document all maintenance activities accurately, following established procedures and using approved systems.Carry and properly use required equipment such as tools, radios, and smart devices to perform daily duties effectively.Maintain inventory of parts and supplies, and requisition materials as needed in alignment with budget guidelines.Communicate effectively with the maintenance manager and other shifts using approved communication programs, tools, and standards to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity of operations.Apply working knowledge across key technical areas including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, building skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, generators, energy conservation practices, life safety systems, and general building operations.Perform a full range of preventive maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing A/C filters, and inspecting equipment for proper operation.Test, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing issues, including plunging toilets and unclogging drains using drain jets or snakes.Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components, including lamps, and replace electrical ballasts as needed.Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and all required safety precautions before performing any maintenance work to ensure a safe working environment.Perform repairs and adjustments on interior and exterior landscaping sprinkler systems to maintain proper operation.Use advanced computer skills to enter and modify air handler schedules, adjust temperature set points in the building management system, and trend operational points for system monitoring and optimization.Support energy conservation efforts and life safety system reliability through diligent maintenance and monitoring of building systems.Present a professional demeanor and provide high-quality customer service to corporate tenants, including senior-level occupants, while performing maintenance tasks.Essential Skills:At least 5 years of experience as an Engineer or in a similar maintenance engineering role.Hands-on experience in general maintenance, including exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and building operations.Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air conditioning and refrigeration systems.Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components, including lamps and ballasts.Ability to perform plumbing maintenance and repairs, including clearing toilets and drains using appropriate tools.Understanding and application of Lockout/Tagout procedures and adherence to safety protocols before performing maintenance work.Ability to perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping sprinkler systems.Advanced computer skills, including working with building management systems to enter and adjust air handler schedules, manage temperature set points, and trend operational data.Strong communication skills to interact with visitors, associates, maintenance leadership, and other shifts.Demonstrated customer service skills and professional presentation in a corporate environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Experience in hotel or office building engineering or maintenance is a plus.CFC Universal certification (refrigerant handling license).Maryland 2nd class licensed engineer (or higher), OR NIULPE 3rd class licensed engineer (National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers) or higher, OR an equivalent power engineer license in another jurisdiction.Experience with energy conservation practices and life safety systems.Comfort working with a variety of tools, radios, and smart devices in daily operations.Why Work Here?You will work in a professional corporate setting where technical expertise and customer service are highly valued. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and oriented toward reliable building operations and a high standard of presentation.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethesda, MD.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
