The Pharmacist-In-Charge is responsible for overseeing daily pharmacy operations, staff performance, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and customer service to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient medication management. This role provides leadership for pharmacy teams, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and industry standards, manages staffing and productivity, and drives continuous process improvement across dispensing, compounding, inventory, controlled substance management, and customer support functions.

Salary range: $145k-$160k

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy staff.
- Ensure all employees maintain required licenses, registrations, certifications, and competency standards.
- Oversee scheduling, attendance, PTO management, and staffing levels to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide developmental feedback, and address performance or behavioral concerns in partnership with HR and senior leadership.
- Mentor supervisors and team leads to ensure consistent leadership practices and employee engagement.
Regulatory Compliance & Pharmacy Operations
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including DEA, Board of Pharmacy, FDA, CMS, Department of Health, and Department of Aging requirements.
- Ensure adherence to USP <795> , USP <797> , and USP <800> standards and all company policies and procedures.
- Oversee pharmacy operations to ensure activities are performed within the appropriate scope of practice and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage timely regulatory reporting, documentation, audits, and record requests.
Productivity & Performance Management
- Monitor productivity, quality, accuracy, and service standards to achieve operational goals.
- Ensure prescription processing, dispensing schedules, and customer commitments are met consistently.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, capacity, and customer satisfaction.
- Support successful onboarding of new client facilities and operational initiatives.
Quality & Risk Management
- Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety.
- Ensure quality concerns are documented, investigated, escalated, and resolved appropriately.
- Support compliance audits and corrective action initiatives.
Departmental Oversight
- Oversee dispensing, sterile and non-sterile compounding, inventory management, packaging, returns processing, and technician supervision.
- Ensure proper acquisition, storage, handling, labeling, transportation, and documentation of medications.
- Manage controlled substance security, inventory controls, discrepancy investigations, and required documentation.
- Provide operational support for pharmacy technology systems and medication distribution processes.
- Ensure compliance with on-site medication storage programs, third-party audit requirements, and customer service standards.
Customer & Client Support
- Serve as a resource for clients, caregivers, nurses, facilities, and internal teams regarding pharmacy services and medication-related concerns.
- Resolve customer issues, support clinical and billing teams, and contribute to customer-focused initiatives that improve service quality and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Active pharmacist license in good standing and authorized to practice in the applicable state.
- Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain pharmacist licensure in additional states, as needed to support business operations, within established timeframes.
Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum of 1 year working in healthcare environment as licensed pharmacist
- LTC Pharmacy or related environment experience preferred; formulary/clinical expertise preferred, especially related to Medicare Part D.
- Strong computer knowledge and skills in report development using MS Word and Excel.
