Clinical Dietitian - Per Diem

Job Title Clinical Dietitian Job Overview The Clinical Dietitian provides clinical nutrition services, including medical nutrition therapy to patients, and is a strong member of the health care team integrated across all service areas of the hospital. The role utilizes evidence‑based practice with current scientific literature, incorporates Patient & Family Centered care, and requires skills in nutritional assessment using the ADIME method. Responsibilities may include nutrition consultations to patients in the SSVNA Home Care Division with home visits, coverage in the Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation department, and the outpatient GDM clinic as needed. Compensation Pay Range $32.21 – $46.06 per hour Essential Functions Screen patients for nutritional risk using departmental EMR standards, consults, daily multidisciplinary rounds, and meal rounds. Prioritize patients for the shift, document assessment needs and reasons, and record rounds in ‘My Patients’ Worklist. Conduct patient assessments using the Nutrition Care Process, incorporating EMR data, meal rounds, family input, and provider recommendations; produce ADIME‑structured notes with evidence‑based calculations per department policies. Document assessments and recommendations in the EMR with appropriate templates, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. Communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information effectively to coworkers and other clinical staff; resolve conflicts and maintain productive relationships. Provide in‑service education to registered dietitian staff or other facility employees/students as requested by the Clinical Nutrition Manager (CNM). Proactively resolve patient problems and contribute to operational excellence, collaborating with others to enhance nutritional care. Initiate research of scientific literature to update educational handouts, policies, procedures, or standards of practice. Maintain registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), a Massachusetts license, and an approved professional portfolio; attend lectures, seminars, and review professional journals in a timely manner. Active participation in department and hospital meetings; convey meeting information to CNM and coworkers. Support community educational fairs and presentations by developing agendas and handouts well in advance, utilizing PowerPoint or other professional tools as available. Adopt and apply technology and electronic tools for work processes, including literature searches and internal communication via Outlook and other systems. Provide outpatient counseling for the GDM clinic, coordinate activities to support hospital fiscal accountability, and serve as a provider for medical insurers as needed. Maintain a neat, organized office space. Efficiently manage administrative duties, document notes, send letters to MDs, order educational forms, process patient billing and reconciliation, maximize appointment scheduling, and contribute to the outpatient performance improvement plan as directed by CNM. Participate in continued learning and embrace technological advances to improve communication and efficiency. Unit / Department Specific Job Functions Perform other duties as required by the manager or director. Handle work of varying skill levels and responsibilities, including preparation for increased or decreased responsibility as departmental load dictates. Job Requirements Minimum Education : Bachelor or Master’s degree in Nutrition from a CDR/A.N.D. approved program; completed dietetic internship from a CDR accredited program; passed the RD exam or eligible to take it; Massachusetts licensure or eligibility. Preferred Experience : Up to six (6) months to become fully proficient is preferred. Required Licenses / Registrations : LDN or LDN‑eligible; RD or RD‑eligible. Required Additional Knowledge and Abilities : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel; typing ability; availability for varied shifts, including day, evening, weekends. #J-18808-Ljbffr
