Afterschool Teen Mentor/Program Assistant - Ohio Elementary School - Watertown, NY

Position Details Part‑time non‑exempt, 15 hours per week. Hourly rate: $16.00. Position Information Classification: Association Temporary Program. This role assists the after‑school program for youth grades K‑8, promotes 4‑H activities, encourages academic skill development, serves as a positive role model, and communicates with the Program Coordinator and educators. Additional duties include participating in monthly meetings, utilizing mass media for program delivery, fostering program acceptance, and cooperating with Association staff to meet program goals. Required Qualifications Experience relevant to the position. Preferred Qualifications Ability to work effectively with co‑workers, volunteers, participants, and community leaders. Effective communication using oral, written, and visual means. Ability to relate to diverse audiences. Ability to meet deadlines and work within strict timeframes. High level of organizational skills. High level of computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Publisher, email. Knowledge of community, culture, and traditions. Responsibilities / Essential Functions Promote and assist in teaching 4‑H program activities and research‑based curriculum. Encourage and engage participants to complete academic applications that improve learning skills. Monitor participants as needed under the direction of the Program Coordinator and Educator(s). Provide a supportive and positive role model to participants. Assist with monthly meetings and activities that engage mentees and mentors. Work as a team member in all aspects of programming efforts. Utilize all forms of mass media, including social media, to deliver programs. Foster acceptance of 4‑H programs, methods, and policies while addressing community and individual needs. Cooperate with the entire Association and 4‑H Youth Development Program staff to achieve delivery goals. Communicate with the Program Coordinator and Educator(s) and report any concerns. Participate in program discussions and provide input on delivery, evaluation, marketing, and community connections. Obtain knowledge of best practices and policies related to implementing the program. In cooperation with the Supervisor or Executive Director, develop and pursue a professional development plan. Collaborate in general support activities: attend staff meetings, report expenses, support marketing of Extension programs, and perform other duties as assigned.
