Position: Phlebotomist 6065Location: Float throughout the Waukegan and Chicago areaClean driving record and reliable transportation requiredMileage expenses paidSchedule: Candidates will need to be available to work 8am-7:30pm Varied depending location they are coveringProjected duration: 3 months + potential for permJob code: CVDJP00036065 benefits are availableSummary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendationsPosition Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.Collects and stores specimens according to established proceduresProperly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as requiredDemonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needlesFully understand all of the physicians' ordersMatches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubesLabel, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orderCheck all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correctPackage specimens for transportStores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimenUnderstand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulationsAttend annual department trainingsAnswer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
