UX Designer

The UX Designer is responsible for creating effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces across various digital platforms. This role involves designing the overall functionality of products to ensure an excellent user experience, conducting user research, and iterating designs based on testing and feedback. The UX Designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing digital products optimized for a wide range of devices. Responsibilities:

• Create user interfaces for digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials.
• Design overall product functionality to ensure a great user experience and iterate based on user-testing.
• Conduct user research, interviews, surveys, and translate findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Facilitate product and service design vision and concept in collaboration with Business, Product, and Development teams.
• Lead design ideation and deliver design deliverables such as service design blueprints, information architecture, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
• Deliver functional, accessible, usable, and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces.
• Gather and incorporate user feedback to configure and improve existing interfaces.
• Manage competing priorities and maintain client relationships.

• Experience as a UX designer, interactive designer, UI designer, or similar role for web and mobile applications.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canvas.
• Thorough understanding of web development technologies and their limitations.
• Ability to facilitate user experience design research using methods like user interviews, diary studies, usability testing, tracking usability metrics, A/B testing, and card sorting.
• Experience designing wireframes, user stories, user flows, user journeys, mockups, and prototypes optimized for multiple devices.
• Strong communication skills to prepare clear documentation and convey design concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including developers, QA specialists, and business stakeholders.
• Experience working with Ontario Design System.
• Ability to design content that simplifies complex technical language and processes for users.
• Experience delivering accessible designs meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

• Knowledge of network security and network protocols.
• Experience with accessibility testing and designing with accessibility in mind.
• Familiarity with digital service standards.
• Experience handling complex design challenges, including legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder approval processes.
• Prior experience in public service or Ontario Public Service (OPS).

• Must be able to work onsite for 5 days as required.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and client relationships effectively.

• Standard work schedule with onsite presence required for specified days.
