Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a PA or compact RN license, 2 years of experience, and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac, stroke, respiratory, renal, orthopedic, and post-surgical patients across multiple units
• Care may include occasional stable open-heart surgery patients (typically post-op day 4-5), peritoneal dialysis, respiratory care, cardiac disease, stroke, and joint replacement patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5/6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation required, likely every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to all Med/Surg floors and potentially rehab
• May involve caring for COVID-positive patients

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA state license or compact license) currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips (no titration), and dysrhythmia management
• Skilled in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Skilled in wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care across multiple specialty units
• Collaborate with CHF and Stroke Program Coordinators for high-quality patient education
• Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
• Travelers will receive 1 day of orientation before being expected to take full assignments
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius to qualify for the standard travel rate; local candidates may be offered at a reduced rate
