Sr. VP of Finance (Dallas)

SECCA Search Group is partnering with a privately held Texas homebuilder with a growing presence across key residential markets, including Dallas–Fort Worth.

This opportunity offers exposure to a highly visible executive finance role within a residential homebuilding platform focused on growth, operational discipline, community performance, and long-term market expansion.

About the Role

The Sr. VP of Finance will play a critical role in leading financial strategy, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and operational finance across the organization.

This individual will work closely with executive leadership, division leaders, land, development, construction, sales, purchasing, and accounting teams to provide financial insight, strengthen controls, support strategic decisions, and help drive overall business performance.

The role requires a senior finance leader with strong homebuilding or residential development experience, deep operational understanding, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable recommendations for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership: Lead finance strategy, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support company growth, profitability, and operational execution.
• Executive Partnership: Work closely with ownership, executive leadership, and division leaders to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and support key business decisions.
• Operational Finance: Partner with land, development, construction, sales, purchasing, and accounting teams to ensure financial assumptions align with community-level performance, delivery schedules, and market conditions.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow planning, variance analysis, and financial projections across active and future communities.
• Business Performance Analysis: Analyze margins, absorptions, pricing, cost trends, inventory, backlog, lot positions, and other key operating metrics to identify trends and recommend actions.
• Land & Development Finance: Support land acquisition and development decisions through underwriting review, proforma analysis, cost assumptions, return expectations, and risk evaluation.
• Reporting & Controls: Strengthen financial reporting, internal controls, policies, procedures, and processes to support accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
• Strategic Planning: Provide financial leadership around growth planning, capital allocation, market expansion, community pipeline, and long-term business objectives.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting team members while promoting accountability, accuracy, and strong cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Senior-level finance leadership experience within homebuilding, residential development, construction, or real estate.
• Strong understanding of homebuilding operations, including land, development, construction, purchasing, sales, backlog, closings, margins, and community-level performance.
• Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting, variance analysis, and operational finance.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate proformas, margins, costs, returns, and business performance.
• Experience partnering directly with executive leadership and cross-functional operational teams.
• Strong understanding of accounting, financial controls, reporting processes, and business systems.
• Ability to lead teams, improve processes, and support growth in a fast-paced residential homebuilding environment.
