Senior Backend Engineer (Blockchain Infrastructure / Onchain Systems)

Location: New York, NY or Remote Company Stage: High-Growth Consumer Fintech / Crypto Office Type: Hybrid / Onsite-Friendly Salary: $200,000 - $400,000 Base + Equity

This rapidly scaling fintech platform is building one of the largest real-time prediction markets in the world, enabling users to trade on outcomes across global events. Operating at the intersection of crypto infrastructure, finance, and media, the platform processes billions in transaction volume and relies on highly performant onchain systems to power real-time trading, settlement, and market execution.

What You Will Do

• Design and operate the core onchain execution infrastructure powering trading and settlement systems
• Build and maintain relayer systems, transaction pipelines, and chain connectivity services
• Develop high-performance backend APIs and distributed services capable of handling large transaction volumes with low latency
• Own RPC infrastructure and integrations with EVM-based blockchain networks
• Optimize throughput, reliability, and operational performance across onchain systems
• Improve fault tolerance and security in adversarial blockchain environments
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering standards development
• Stay current with evolving blockchain infrastructure technologies and contribute relevant improvements to the stack

Ideal Candidate Background

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable production systems
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including API design, distributed systems, and database architecture
• Deep understanding of EVM blockchain internals, including transaction lifecycle, gas mechanics, mempool behavior, and smart contract interactions
• Strong proficiency in systems-level programming languages such as Go (preferred), Rust, or C++
• Experience working with blockchain infrastructure such as RPC nodes, event indexing systems, relayers, or execution pipelines
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in high-scale, low-latency systems
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, technically demanding environments

Preferred

• Experience building or operating relayer systems
• Familiarity with Ethereum L2 / rollup ecosystems (Optimism, Arbitrum, etc.)
• Experience with BFT consensus systems, libp2p, or blockchain node software
• Open-source contributions within blockchain ecosystems
• Active engagement with protocol or blockchain infrastructure research communities
