NICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate NICU Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team in the Special Care Nursery. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to newborns requiring specialized medical attention, supporting their stability and development.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the stability of cardiopulmonary, neurologic, metabolic, and thermal functions of infants.
• Assist with specialized procedures, including lumbar punctures and endotracheal resuscitation for newborns at 32 weeks gestation or greater.
• Initiate, modify, or stop treatment according to established protocols or physician orders.
• Float to Postpartum and Labor and Delivery departments for neonatal care as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required, with experience in a Level II unit.
• Proficiency in managing respiratory support via High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and Mechanical Ventilation.
• Experience with central line management, peripheral IV insertions, lab draws, and administering IV antibiotics.
• Strong understanding of apnea and bradycardia related to pre-term infants.
• Competency in stabilizing newborns less than 32 weeks and preparing for transport to a higher-level facility.
• Knowledge of thermoregulation for pre-mature and full-term infants.
• Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and S.T.A.B.L.E required.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to a 3x12-hour shift schedule, primarily during the day from 07:00 to 19:00, with every other weekend and holiday shifts required.

Additional Requirements

• Candidates must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80%, including a score of 100% on lethal rhythms.
• Documented history of completed assignments with no cancellations required.
• Flu vaccination is mandatory for all employees.
